Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural Show



Dogs are more than welcome to come along on the family day out.

Dogs are allowed on the show ground free of charge but should be kept on a lead at all times.
Dogs are not permitted in any of the livestock tents.
Please do not leave dogs in cars.

Bring your dog to take part in the ever –popular Companion Dog Show in the Country Sports area on the Monday of the Show.  Entries are taken from 9.30am and judging commences at 11.30am.  All dog owners can enter and there are classes for pedigrees and crossbreeds.

Gundog demonstrations, clinics and competitions are organised by The South Eastern Gundog Society on both days of the Show. The events gather quite a crowd of spectators. Experienced handlers and trainers will be on hand to answer questions and give advice. More details of the timetable can be found under Competing/Dogs.

The Cavalcades of Footpacks and Fox Hounds, including the chance for children to run with the hounds, in the main ring is a wonderful sight.  At other times the Hounds have a special area within the Country Sports section – a chance for a closer encounter.

The Working Terrier Show and Terrier Racing take place on the Monday of the Show.  Entries can be made on the day.  They are both very popular spectator attractions each year.

The Edenbridge & Oxted  Retriever Challenge (An invitation Working Gundog Competition featuring 15 Open standard retrievers)


MONDAY 28th August 2017

The Edenbridge & Oxted Team Challenge (An invitation Working Gundog Competition featuring 6 teams each comprising a Spaniel, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever and a Flatcoated Retriever)


Events during Competition intervals include:

Spaniel Demonstrations:  Showing the amazing versatility and energy of the English Springer Spaniel as an all round shooting companion

Retriever Training Classes:  A variety of novice and intermediate dogs illustrating some of the aspects involved in the development of a tained gun dog

Junior "Have a Go" :Younger members of the audience will have the opportunity to handle a trained gundog and retrieve a dummy to hand(places limited, register at Gundog Advice)

Edenbridge Express : A long marked retrieve to find the queickest dog - so if your dog, whatever the breed, can retrieve a dummy why not have a go? (places limited - register at Gundog Advice)

Gundog Advice:  Experienced handlers and trainers will be on hand during the two days to answer your questions and offer advice

The organisers reserve the right to alter the timetable if necessary.

The ever popular dog show is held on the Monday of the show, entries are taken from 9.30 a.m. and judging commences at 11.30 a.m.
All dog owners can enter, there are classes for pedigrees and crossbreeds.

All classes : £2 per dog per class, entries taken from 9.30 am on the field.

There are 15 different classes on Monday 28th, starting with the Pedigree Classes at 11.30am, judged by Mrs Lynn Myall (Altussi). 

Monday from 11.30am :

Pedigree Classes

Class 1: Any Variety:  Puppy, dog or bitch 6 - 12 months of age;

Class 2: Any Variety : Non sporting Dog or Bitch (utility, working,pastoral, toy);

Class 3: Any Variety : Sporting Dog or Bitch (hound, gun dog, terrier);

Class 4: Any Variety : Open (all breeds)


This is followed at 2.30pm by the novelty classes judged by Mr David Lay. 


Novelty Classes at 2.30pm :

Crossbreed puppy; crossbreed open; most attractive puppy, best conditioned veteran, best handled by child, best brace, handsomest dog, prettiest bitch, happiest dog or bitch, best rescue dog or bitch, dog or bitch judge would most like to take home.




For working type Hunt, Jack Russell, Border, Lakeland and Fell Terriers

Entries £2.00 per terrier per class.  Entries will be taken on the field from 9.30am. 

Judging commences at 10am.

The ever popular terrier Racing takes place during Monday afternoon of the show, commencing at 3pm. All entries will be taken ON THE FIELD from 1.30pm  on the day. £2 entry fee.
It is a great spectator attraction.Each dog may only be entered in one race
There will be two Sections - Long Legged and Short Legged
The winner of the Long Legged Section will receive
the Galloway Challenge Cup.  The winner of the short legged section will receive the Michael Owen Gatton Challenge Cup
Heat Winners will receive a Rosette
Prizes in the two final Races will be as follows:
1st - £10.00; 2nd - £8.00; 3rd - £6.00; 4th - £4.00


1. Entrants confined to Working Type Terriers      
2. Any dispute will be settled by Trapman or Judge      
3. Only one heat per Terrier unless we are short of entries.      
4. If there is any breakdown in equipment, the Race will be re-run.      
5. First Terrier in a Race goes forward to the next round.      
6. Height (measured to top of shoulder) -      Short Legged - maximum 12" Long Legged - maximum 16"     
7. No encouragement from the owners will be allowed whilst Race is in progress.      
8. All Dogs must be kept on leads except those taking part in a Race.      
9.All Terriers must be ready to enter traps when race number is shown and called.

Over last summer the Show took part again in the charming BBC 1 series, "The Farmers' Country Showdown". The second series starts on Tuesday 2nd January and will feature the E&O Show pig section on MONDAY 8TH JANUARY and the Shire Horses showing at the E&O Show on THURSDAY 11TH JANUARY.
