HORSE SHOW

With a full packed schedule of over 140 classes for everyone from amateurs to professionals, theres bound to be something to interest you, whether attending as a competitor or spectator. Over 1500 horses, ponies, and donkeys take part in the classes over the 2 days of the show, covering all spheres from showing, driving, jumping and Side saddle.

A highlight to the Main ring on the Sunday of the show is the Side Saddle - Concours D'elegance.
Watch the ladies on their beautifully turned out horses in their period costumes parade around
the main ring.

Mondays equine highlight is the Coaching/4 in Hand class, which enters the ring after their road drive, see how we used to get around before the motor car, its truly a sight to be seen.

LIVESTOCK SECTION

The real heart of any agricultural show has to be the Livestock area, and at the Edenbridge and Oxted this is no exception. With one of the largest number of cattle entries in the country we are very proud of this section, culminating in the Grand Cattle Parade in the main ring on Monday afternoon watching over 500 cattle in the ring at one time is something that can not be missed. Come and walk the cattle lines and get up close to over 17 different breeds of cattle.

The sheep and goat pens are also a must see, watch the judging and try and see if you can spot the winner!

2008 saw the return after many years absence of Pigs at the Edenbridge and Oxted Show, and they are a most welcome addition to the show.

Also in this area we have the Llama show on  the Monday, as well as Sheep shearing demonstrations, Young Farmers and Cheese making demonstrations.

COUNTRY SPORTS AREA

This is one of the most action packed areas of the show, with something to see or have a go at over the whole 2 days. Try your hand at Archery, Fly Fishing or Clay Pigeon shooting.

The Terrier racing on Monday afternoon always attracts a huge crowd and is highly entertaining!

In the main ring on Sunday we have the Cavalcade of Footpacks and Monday sees the Cavalcade of Foxhounds, a real spectacle as over 7 different packs of hounds merge as one, gallop around the ring, then divide again into their separate packs, showing the obedience these hounds show to their Huntsman. A real english country sight.

Along with the Obedience and Agility displays, theres a chance to enter your own dog in the Dog show or Terrier Show and come away from the show with a prize.

Working Gundog demonstrations take place throughout the 2 days, as well as Falconry & Ferret displays. You will be hard pushed not to find something to enjoy in this area of the show.

FARRIER AND BLACKSMITHS COMPETITIONS

Throughout the 2 days of the show, local farriers  will be fighting it out to win the shoeing competitions. Come and support your favourite.

Blacksmith demonstrations and Wrought Ironwork Displays will also take place during the show, come and marvel as the most elaborate objects are made using one of the most difficult of materials.

PRE SHOW BALL

This is an essential part of the show and kicks the show off in style. It takes place on the Friday night before the Show in the members enclosure, and is a perfect way to get the August Bank Holiday started!

Tickets include a 3 course meal, champagne reception and live entertainment.

Tickets sell out fast so if you are interested in getting a party together, contact Mrs. W. Taylor ( 01342 893 605) for more details.
